the mood of the Moon in libra
After focusing on the details in Virgo, the moon moves into the air sign of Libra.
Libra wants us to find inner balance and peace knowing that we cannot control the reactions of anyone else. When the moon moves into Libra, there is an opportunity to create more harmony in our lives through communication and aesthetics.
Not aesthetics as in mere looks or taste, but beauty as a healing modality.
The energy of Libra connects with the concept of yin and yang showing us that opposites are not actually opposing forces but interconnected and interdependent parts of the whole. One polarity cannot exist without the other.
Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac, and is 180 degrees from the first sign Aries. Libra marks the halfway point from one Equinox to the next. The energy of this cardinal air sign invites us to balance the polarities of the individuality of Aries and the partnership of Libra.
Balancing the ‘me’ and the ‘we’ by not losing your sense of self or being too independent and not allowing yourself to rely on another person.
Questions like: How can I maintain my sense of self and harmoniously balance my relationships? and Who am I if I’m not in a partnership? may arise.
Libra is the second sign ruled by Venus (Taurus is the other) and has a connection to the beauty of words and expression, and employs the gift of communication to help create harmonious relationships built on fairness and trust.
When the moon is in Libra, it might be a good time to ask yourself:
How can this be a win-win situation?
How can everyone get their needs met?
How can you communicate your needs in a way that shows compassion for yourself and for the other person?
Are you “people-pleasing” to avoid conflict?
What agreements do you need to keep with yourself to create balance in your relationships?
What needs to be negotiated?
Libra is often known as the peacemaker of the zodiac. And this can be expressed by actively seeking peace through justice and it can also come in the form of avoiding conflict and keeping peace at all costs, even when the compromises for that peace may be causing harm. Libra teaches us to balance opposing ideas and to make decisions based on what is fair and just. Also acknowledging that balance is not static, but a dynamic act of engaging in the giving and receiving of relationships.
When the moon is in Libra, there may be the instinct to make peace with someone or something.
Libra challenges us to understand what it means for something to be fair.
As a personal example, I lived in numerous communal households in my teens and 20s, and every house had a different way of making things fair when it came to things like groceries and utilities.
One household was very rigid, and everybody labeled all their food and kept all their receipts and tallied up everything at the end of the month and divided it up and wrote each other checks for the remaining amounts (this was before venmo).
Needless to say there were many petty arguments about who owed who what in the name of fairness.
Another household that I lived in had a list of all of the communal things like toilet paper and dishwashing liquid and everyone would sign up for what they could contribute towards. It was more fluid and people tended to be more generous by doing their part towards the overall goal of a smooth running household.
Some questions to ask about equity and justice:
What makes one option more fair than the other?
Is paying the same amount equal?
Can we trust ourselves to do the right thing?
Can we trust others to be fair and to not only have their own self interest in mind?
What happens when someone gives too much?
What happens when someone doesn’t give enough?
What is fair or equal when not everyone has equal access to resources?
The energy of Libra brings the mindset of: We are all in this together.
