THE CREATIVE FIRE

What is creativity? Creativity is making something out of nothing.

This definition is inspired by the author Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés in her work the Creative Fire.

Have you ever said, “I’m not creative.” Ask yourself why that is? Often it is because of comparing what you make to a professional artist. Sometimes we forget that creativity is a way of BEING. It’s navigating through blocks and not giving up, it’s listening to intuition and imagination.

Here is the listening guide that I created with inquiries and notes to accompany the work of Dr. Estés. DOWNLOAD PDF BOOK GUIDE TO THE CREATIVE FIRE - 6 PAGES

The video explores an overview of the recorded sessions in The Creative Fire and stories related to the teaching and how you might incorporate this into your personal creative practice.

AUDIBLE BOOK

This series of talks on creativity, cycles and personal growth is essential! Listening to Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés is a gift that I encourage you to give yourself. It will set the stage for understanding the creative cycle and some of the pitfalls along the way. Although she doesn't talk directly about the moon, Dr. Estés gives us the energetic signature of the lunar cycle as it relates to our creative being and life.

ORIGINS OF THIS CREATIVE LUNAR PRACTICE

The Moon Mandala Collective began in 2017 - to hold space for women who wanted to access their relationship with lunar wisdom. When you allow the lunar cycle to guide you inward around the new moon, you can get in the habit of tapping into visions in the dark and trust the unfolding process.

I have been making moon mandalas on the new moon for many years. It's amazing to see the reoccurring themes and patterns that emerge. Each one is unique, yet over time becomes a part of a whole.

The first step to connecting with this wisdom is creating the space in your life.

This creative process helps you practice self-compassion. It opens up the flow of energy between your self and creative source. Creativity brings more intimacy between self and Self.

This work is a support for The Moon Mandala Collective to explore an intuitive creative journey of growth, connection, and transformation.

I am drawn to what keeps us connected to the cycles in nature and reminders that life is an unfolding work in progress. Meditation, creative process, connection to the cosmic currents, and my family and kitten are what get me up in the morning.

"MY ART IS THE WAY I REESTABLISH THE BONDS THAT TIE ME TO THE UNIVERSE."

This powerful quote by the artist Ana Mendieta says everything to me about the drive to create. Her earth-body-works made a deep impression on my understanding of place, belonging, mother nature, identity and the female body.

Thank you for being here, looking forward to connecting! xo April
